Unearthly Treasures is The Infinite Trip's seventh official studio album release and builds upon the Space Rock and Prog Rock vibe evident on All Aboard the Mothership which is the bands most successful project to date.
Unearthly Treasures focuses on the theme of identity and how our self image is affected by many factors, some of them beyond the reach of the conscious mind.
This theme mirrors the bands own musical journey, evolving from 60's acid garage through to 70's and onwards Progressive rock and Neo Psychedelia with our own personal take on these genres.
The cover artwork depicts the Hindu God Lord Ganesh who is deemed The Remover of Obstacles.
The band are already in the studio planning for a further evolution of The Infinite Trip and this is an onward going process.
Track Notes
1) Black Holes Inside :
The Mellotron was one of the revolutions of the late 60's underground Rock scene and predecessor of the synthesizer. On this track its mournful flute and sweeping orchestral strings surround the spacey guitar and a set of lyrics bewailing the fact that there are places inside us that we can get lost.
2) Carriers of Mystery:
We are the Carriers of Mystery and we aim for that feeling of awe and wonder that is a key element of psychedelic music.The listener is urged to wake up to self realisation against a background of interweaving guitars and synthesizers echoing and forming mysterious patterns in the subconscious mind.
3) Element:
As slow and as heavy as an undertow this dark and doomy track seeks to puncture the egos of those who think that they can exert control over the elements of nature.Built upon a recurring Doom riff using an octave pitch shifter and dark synthesizer drones this track enters new dark territory for The Infinite Trip.
4) The Lorelei Serum:
Set in the far future where genetic engineering has enabled mankind to colonise the oceans. But what happens when we run out of space in the oceans and ill feeling flares up between the various sub branches of the human species.You could call this a form of Sub Aqua Space Rock.
5) Turn Into Flowers:
A classic 70's heavy Rock riff, synthesizer, pounding drums and heartfelt vocals. Being young,being old, dying - These are all states that evoke the exremes of human emotion. This song reminds us we are what we embrace.
6) Unearthly Treasures:
Strange electronic bell like noises pipe out over a relaxed jazz groove with a mixture of jazzy drums and Indian tablas with a mellow flute. We've been digging around inside our heads to bring you pleasure and psychedelic purists will surely welcome the one quintessential element of any great psychedelic album.........the reversed guitar solo. Freak out and enjoy the vibes man.
